Several different routes were used for testing INTEGRAIL:
- in Austria: LogServ/CargoServ, VoestAlpine: Linz -- Steyrling
- in Belgium: SNCB
- several car tests on highways in southern Germany, Austria, and northern Italy

CargoServ Test Area: Rural Line Track Linz--Steyrling
- Single line between Nettingsdorf and Steyrling
- Mountaineous area near Steyrling with 4 tunnels
- Route data transferred from commercial map with an accuracy of 25 to 30 m
Test Area of the VoestAlpine Steelwork Premises in Linz
- Rough environment with frequent multi-path and shadowing
- Complex rail routes with many parallel tracks and switch points
- Data base transferred from GK coordinates provided by LogServ
- High relative data base accuracy but the resolution/accuracy at some switch points to be investigated

- Diesel locomotive
- Interface between locomotive and INTEGRAIL mobil unit
